Sustainability and Social Responsibility Commitment

The travel industry doesn’t always have the best reputation for sustainability, but I am committed to helping change that in any small way I can. I believe that everyone has an impact.

After all, small pebbles can make large ripples.

Across the world, one in every ten people is employed in the tourism industry. It is one of the largest providers of livelihoods on earth. I don’t believe anyone wants the tourism industry to disappear, but we need to make it work better for people and planet.

I believe there are three essential elements to making the tourism industry more sustainable:

  • Modes and frequency of transport

  • Environmental practices - from providers of both accommodation and experiences

  • Engaging local residents and staff in decision making

Understanding these challenges and delving a little deeper into how Nadia Walford PR operates alongside its partners, has led me to make the following commitments.

In honour of Earth Day (22nd April 2022), Nadia Walford PR will commit to:

  • Using sustainable modes of transport to visit clients, when practical

  • Investing in ocean restoration projects for every flight taken, such as those run by Coral Reef Alliance or Oceana

  • Planting twenty-five trees a month, every month, with Ecologi

Looking to 2023 and beyond, we will work towards:

  • Challenging clients’ sustainability and social responsibility practices

  • Encouraging clients to develop robust strategies to help people and planet

  • Becoming a Women for Women International corporate partner

Residents of the Global North often benefit from being able to travel across the world, visiting places which are economically less stable. More often than not, those who suffer and bear the brunt of economic and political instability are women and children. Women for Women International supports women who have survived conflict and provided them with safety and skills training to help secure a brighter future. A corporate partnership would fund a year long training programme through WFWI.

As my clients know, my word is my bond. These commitments mean a great deal to me both on a personal and professional basis.
